More on Broadway: Wishful Drinking and Hamlet...with Jude!

I've been covering a lot of theatrical ground in the area of fall's new Broadway line up since last I blogged -- in addition to which, some attention-worthy NY stage scuttlebutt has been tap dancing across my computer screen.
I believe in sharing, so I give you....
My (humble) Take on the Broadway Season So Far - Part I
Since my last entry covered the Jackman-Craig sell-out A Steady Rain, I refer you to that posting for details of what pleasures await you at The Schoenfeld (assuming you're able to score tickets before the golden duo depart on December 6th). As for the other shows on my October calendar:
October 7th, Wishful Drinking: Carrie Fisher's post-traumatic-tour-de-life-in-the-headlights solo show, brilliantly delivered by a Hollywood survivor whose uncensored humor is clearly her safety valve. Uncoiling her Princess Leia ear buns for maximum effect she delves into her celebrity roots, romantic relationships and emotional dalliances on both sides of the rehab fence with precocious abandon.
Loved it a lot.
October 8th, Hamlet: Jude Law (and some other people) in the Shakespearean star vehicle that's been racking up theatrical points for centuries. This particular production, arriving in New York with a scrapbook full of London raves, is pretty darn wonderful -- and I was significantly low on energy when I embarked on three hours and 20 minutes of Elizabethan rhetoric, often spoken in shadows or under a dark and moody lighting. But the acting and tantalizing production recharged me fully while Law, certainly an actor I'd never seen onstage before, turns in a remarkable -- and yes, heart-wrenching -- performance.
