MoMA Presents: Modern Mondays An Evening with Yuri Ancarani
As part of its ongoing Modern Mondays series, The Museum of Modern Art will present An Evening with Yuri Ancarani at The Museum of Modern Art on December 12th at 7:00 p.m. With elegance, visual precision, and choreographic flair, Ancarani’s films draw out the psychological and allegorical attributes of real-life people and places.
Surveyed for the first time in New York, the beguiling moving-image studies of Italian director Yuri Ancarani merge elements of documentary and contemporary art in shrewd considerations of labor, social relations, and the expression of identity through the body.
This screening program revolves around the idea of the trance, which Ancarani finds in settings as varied as the surgical arm of a medical robot, a séance channeling the presence of architect Carlo Mollino, and Haitian ritual dance.
Tickets must be reserved in advance.
Venue: Museum of Modern Art
11 West 53rd Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues
