Open Archives Night: The American Legion and Historical Map Collections
At Bayside Historical Society's upcoming Open Archives Night, highlights from two popular archival collections will be on display for up-close viewing. Our American Legion exhibit, made possible by the generous donation of Joan and Robert Firmery, is a collection of historical memorabilia from the American Legion Post 510 of Bayside that includes rare documents, photos, and artifacts. Our historical map collection is a fun and fascinating trip down memory lane with maps of northeast Queens detailing street names, local shops, celebrity residences, and landmarks. See if you can find the name of the streets where you lived or grew up and compare "then and now" photos of your neighborhood.
Admission is $10 for BHS members and $20 for non-members. Purchase tickets on the BHS website at https://www.baysidehistorical.org/events-1/open-archives-night-the-american-legion-and-historical-map-collections
