Discover more than four centuries of life and death in New York City with this special, extended version of the Death in New York walking tour (based on the book Death in New York/led by author K. Krombie) via Battery Park, the Financial District, Tribeca, the Civic Center, Chinatown, NoLita, the Lower East Side, NoHo, and Greenwich Village.

Main Features:

Find out about New York City’s indigenous burial sites, riots, epidemics, and death-related legislation. Peer at the islands of New York Harbor, forgotten burial grounds, a funeral industry street, and the Manhattan jails of past and present. Visit a Catholic fortress, a walked-all-over bishop, a “miracle” witness, and the "resting place of gentlemen.” Learn about the city’s bodysnatchers and the ongoing challenges of where to put the dead. Discover the phases of capital punishment and the commercialization of the funeral industry.

Tour length: 4.5 hours (with a break).
